A recent mayfly hatch has made for a slow daytime walleye bite with a few fish being caught on crawlers around deep, main-lake bars and humps. The evening hours have been more productive for those covering water with crankbaits along the 12- to 14-foot shoreline breaks. Perch continue to be difficult to peg, with some being found shallow and others deep, but they don’t tend to stick to the same areas from one day to the next. Troll the 10- to 12-foot weedbed edges with spoons for pike.
