Happy Thanksgiving from the Shores of Lake Winnie

The leaves are long gone, and we’re officially in that in-between season—watching the lake, hoping for a nice, smooth freeze. It’s hard to believe Thanksgiving is already here.

We, the resort owners and operators of the Lake Winnie Resort Association, just wanted to take a moment before the holiday rush really kicks in to talk about what we’re thankful for this year.

First and foremost, we are grateful for the incredible area we get to call home. There’s really no better way to put it. Living and working right here on the shores of Lake Winnibigoshish is a true privilege.

When you live up North, you don't take the beauty for granted, but you also don't feel the need to shout about it. It’s just quietly there. It's the towering pines of the Chippewa National Forest, the way the stars are so bright out here without all the city lights, and that feeling you get when you step outside and the air is just crisp and clean. It’s a peaceful, honest way of life.

We spend our days right here—on the docks, in the cabins, in the woods, and on the water. We get to manage one of Minnesota’s premier fishing destinations, and it’s a lot of work, but when you look out over the water at sunset, or see a bald eagle soaring over the resort, it reminds you that you’re exactly where you’re supposed to be. We’re thankful for this beautiful, natural spot that we get to share with all of you.

Running a resort, especially a family-run place, is a lot. It’s long hours, it’s early mornings, and sometimes it means wrestling with a big problem when the weather is bad. That’s where the community comes in.

This area runs on cooperation and good old-fashioned Minnesota common sense. We respect the work everyone puts in to keep this destination running smoothly. This shared purpose—this deep commitment to Lake Winnie—is something we are truly thankful for, and it’s what allows us to offer you a consistently great experience year after year.

Most Grateful for Our Guests

If we had to pick the absolute number one thing we are thankful for, it’s you: our guests.

You are the reason this whole operation exists.

Even during the cold months, it warms us to see our returning guests pull into the drive. You are more than just customers; you are people who understand and love this lake just as much as we do. It’s an honor to be part of your family tradition. We see kids who used to fish off the docks now bringing their own little ones, carrying on the tradition. These generational ties are incredibly meaningful to us.

And for our new guests who visit for the first time, thank you for taking a chance on us. We love seeing that excitement when someone catches their first big Jumbo Perch, or just the look of peace on their face after a quiet week away from the city.

We are thankful for your loyalty, your stories, and your business. Your commitment allows us to keep improving our resorts, maintain our beautiful property, and continue sharing the best of Northern Minnesota with the world. You make all the hard work worthwhile.

Thanksgiving is often the first time the whole extended family is gathered together since summer. Everyone is relaxed, maybe catching up, and there's a perfect window of time to get those calendars synced up and plan your next Lake Winnie getaway.

We highly encourage you to look ahead and get your reservation booked now. Time moves fast, and those prime weeks—both in the summer and during the peak ice fishing season—tend to fill up quickly.

We encourage you to make that plan over the holidays. Give your family the gift of time and tradition. It's the best investment you can make.

From all of our families here at the Lake Winnie Resort Association, we wish you a warm, safe, and happy Thanksgiving. We are truly thankful for the life we live here and for the opportunity to share it with you.

We hope to see you on the ice or the water very soon! Call your favorite resort today.
