Walleye Opener on Lake Winnie Was a Hit
The walleye opener on Lake Winnie didn’t disappoint! Anglers were all smiles with steady bites that kept the rods bending all day. Most of the action was happening in 14–17 feet of water out from the Gap, Tamarack Bay, North Shore, Third River, and near the Richards Townsite landing on the south end.

Ice-out on Lake Winnie is approaching quickly. Warmer temperatures this week will help break up the main ice pack, and with a little help from the wind, we should see significant progress. Expect some big changes by next weekend.

Perch are firing all across the north. Leech, Winnie, Cass are all producing good numbers of fish and quality. Shallow flats with deep water adjacent is the pattern. February 24th Fishing Report

Perch are firing on Lake Winnie. Being mobile is key to staying on active schools. The sit and wait game hasn’t been all that beneficial. Big perch on Winnie require a mobile approach.
